Sadly we report on the premature death of our beloved co-founder, Kevin B. Zeese. Kevin passed away on Sept. 5, 2020

Kevin was one of the nation's foremost authorities on drug policy issues. He worked on a wide array of drug related issues since he graduated from George Washington University Law School in 1980.

New research published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on April 16, 2019, shows what drug policy reform advocates have said for years: drug interdiction strategies are self-defeating failures. The authors write:

In October 2018, the Gallup public opinion survey organization released survey data revealing that 66 percent of Americans support legalization of adult social use of marijuana. New data from Gallup digs more deeply into the reasons why.

Gallup reported on June 12, 2019, that:

Philadelphia, Seattle, and several other cities and counties around the US are considering the establishment of supervised consumption sites. Supervised consumption sites, also known as overdose prevention sites, are harm reduction interventions that save lives, improve public health, and enhance public safety.

The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy on June 14, 2019, released a new estimate for Mexican opium production in 2018. According to ONDCP:

The role of cocaine and psychostimulants (such as methamphetamine) in overdose deaths in the US is reportedly on the rise. On May 3, 2019, the federal Centers for Disease Control reported that:

Niamh Eastwood is the Executive Director of Release, the UK's "national centre of expertise on drugs and drugs law."

Because of her expertise, Eastwood had been recommended as a candidate to the UK's government's Advisory Council on Misuse of Drugs. On June 11, 2019, the Guardian reported that:

According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report, in 2017 there were an estimated 10,554,985 arrests by law enforcement nationwide for all criminal offenses, of which 518,617 were for violent offenses and 1,249,757 arrests were for property offenses. Also that year, there were 1,632,921 arrests for drug law violations.
