Marijuana Use and Illegal Drug Use: Lifetime, Past Year, and Past Month Use by People in the US Aged 12 and Over
The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) is conducted annually by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
According to the NSDUH, in 2021:
138,790 people in the US aged 12 and older had used an illegal drug or marijuana in their lifetimes.
61,203 had used an illegal drug or marijuana in the previous year.
39,995 had used an illegal drug or marijuana in the previous month.
NSDUH also reported that in 2021:
128,016 people in the US aged 12 or older had used marijuana in their lifetimes.
52,454 had used marijuana in the previous year.
36,363 had used marijuana in the previous month.
