In 2020, the FBI reports there were a total of 1,155,610 arrests for all drug offenses, of which 153,696 were for sale or manufacture of any drug, and 1,001,914 were for possession of any drug.
Of the 153,696 sale/manufacture arrests in 2020, 47,380 were for heroin, cocaine, and their derivatives; 32,357 were for marijuana; 17,334 were for synthetic or manufactured drugs; and 57,781 were for "other dangerous nonnarcotic" drugs.
Of the 1,001,914 possession arrests that year, 227,655 were for heroin, cocaine, and their derivatives; 317,793 were for marijuana; 40,446 were for synthetic or manufactured drugs; and 416,020 were for "other dangerous nonnarcotic" drugs.
